Pro Recco has officially confirmed the signing of Álvaro Granados, finalizing one of the most anticipated transfers in recent years.

The 26-year-old Spanish international joins the Italian champions from Barceloneta, where he was instrumental in a highly successful 2024–25 season.

Granados had originally agreed to join Pro Recco in 2024, but the move was delayed due to financial instability at the club. Now, with the situation resolved, the transfer has finally materialized—bringing to Liguria one of the world’s most complete attacking players.

The sharp-shooter departs CNAB after another strong campaign that saw the Catalan club win the Spanish league, the Copa del Rey, and secure a bronze medal at the Champions League Final Four in Malta. Granados was central to that success, offering leadership, clinical finishing, and creative firepower throughout the season.

A product of CN Terrassa, Granados made his name at Barceloneta before spending two standout seasons at Novi Beograd. On the international stage, he has been a pillar of the Spanish national team since debuting at 17, helping lead Spain to gold medals at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest and the 2024 European Championships in Zagreb.

Granados becomes the fourth Spaniard in history to wear the Pro Recco cap, following Felipe Perrone, Guillermo Molina, and Jesús Rollán. His arrival is expected to further strengthen the club’s pursuit of domestic and European titles in the 2025–26 season.

Pro Recco are reportedly preparing for a busy transfer window, with several more key changes expected ahead of the 2025 season.

Gianmarco Nicosia is set to replace Marco Del Lungo in goal, signalling a generational shift between the posts. Rising stars Andrea Patchaliev (Savona), Francesco Cassia (Ortigia), and Andrea Mladossich (Trieste) are also tipped to join, as the club continues its focus on domestic talent. Meanwhile, Croatian centre-forward Rino Burić and Australian Olympian Luke Pavillard are both strongly linked with moves to Liguria, bringing proven international pedigree to the squad. There is still uncertainty around the future of Max Irving, who could be on the move after a standout season in Italy.
