Ortigia has confirmed the signing of Hungarian attacker Benedek Baksa for the upcoming 2025/2026 season. The player arrives from OSC Budapest, becoming the latest addition to the Sicilian club’s growing roster.
Born in 2000 and standing at 194cm, Baksa is known for his strength and scoring ability, primarily operating from positions 4 and 5. After developing at UVSE, he made his senior breakthrough with Eger in 2019, where he spent four seasons before moving to OSC Budapest in 2023. During his time in Hungary’s top division, he earned bronze medals both in the national championship and the Hungarian Cup.
Baksa has also represented Hungary at various youth levels, including a silver medal at the 2023 Summer Universiade, a bronze at the U18 European Championships, and two bronze medals at the U18 World Championships.
In his first words as an Ortigia player, Baksa expressed excitement and determination:
“I’m really proud and happy to have signed with Ortigia, and I’m excited for this new chapter in my career. I can’t wait to start the new season, meet all my teammates, coaches, and the fans. I hope I’ll soon be able to speak with all of you and do interviews in Italian. I’m eager to grow, improve, and show what I can do. I hope that together, we can achieve something extraordinary and bring this great club where it deserves to be.”
