Ferencváros has secured the services of Serbian water polo star Dušan Mandić for another three years, extending his contract until the summer of 2027.
The three-time Olympic champion has been a vital asset to FTC, and his decision to stay with the Hungarian champions marks a significant milestone for the club. FTC’s executive vice-president, Zoltán NyÃri, expressed his pride in the announcement, emphasizing that the world’s best water polo player is committed to Ferencváros.
Mandic, who joined FTC in 2023 after a challenging period at Novi Beograd, quickly found success in Hungary. Under the guidance of coach Balázs Nyéki, he helped FTC win the Hungarian league, cup, and the Champions League in 2024. His remarkable performances earned him MVP honors in the Champions League Final Four and a gold medal with Serbia at the Paris Olympics, where he was also the tournament’s top scorer.
The Serbian left-hander expressed his happiness with the extension, saying that from the moment he arrived in Budapest, he felt the club’s special atmosphere and professionalism. He praised last season as the best of his career and looks forward to continuing the success with FTC.
Mandic’s loyalty to Ferencváros is particularly impressive given that he received lucrative offers from Italy and Serbia. His decision to stay, influenced by his strong relationship with Nyéki, is seen as a testament to FTC’s professional environment and the strong bond between the player and the club.
