Hungarian international Erik Molnar will spend the 2026/27 season with Jug Dubrovnik after completing a loan move from FTC-Telekom.
The 23-year-old missed the entire previous campaign through injury and underwent surgery on a hernia. Molnar is progressing well with his recovery, but FTC and head coach Balazs Nyeki have decided that a temporary move will provide him with more regular playing opportunities as he works his way back to full fitness.
The decision does not represent a lack of faith in the centre. FTC recently extended Molnar’s contract until the spring of 2028, underlining the confidence that Nyeki and the club’s management continue to have in the Hungarian international.
Molnar has already built an impressive list of achievements despite his young age. He has won the Champions League twice with FTC and was part of the Hungary squad that lifted the World Championship title in Fukuoka in 2023. He has also collected silver medals at both the World and European Championships.
His arrival strengthens a growing Hungarian contingent at Jug, with the Dubrovnik club having also signed David Tatrai from BVSC and Gergely Burian from Vasas this summer.
The three Hungarians will form an important part of Jug’s rebuilding project as the historic Croatian club looks to challenge for domestic trophies and make a stronger impact in European competition.
For Molnar, the move offers the opportunity to regain match sharpness and take on a significant role before returning to FTC, where he remains viewed as an important part of the club’s longer-term plans.
