Ethnikos signs Canadian Olympian Kyra Christmas

Greek club Ethnikos has announced the signing of Canadian international Kyra Christmas for the 2026/27 season.

Christmas arrives in Piraeus with an impressive résumé, having represented Canada at the Tokyo Olympic Games and won silver medals at both the 2019 Pan American Games and the 2017 FINA World League.

The Canadian attacker is no stranger to Greek water polo. During a highly successful spell with Olympiacos, she won three Greek Championships, three Greek Cups, two European Super Cups and the Women’s Champions League, establishing herself as one of the most accomplished foreign players to compete in the country.

Last season, Christmas played for Vouliagmeni, where she continued to be a key figure in one of Greece’s leading clubs.

Her arrival is a significant statement of intent from Ethnikos, who finished third in the Greek Championship this season and are looking to close the gap on the country’s traditional powerhouses. Bringing a wealth of experience from the international stage, Christmas adds quality, leadership and a winning mentality to Orestis Salahas’ squad.

Ethnikos have also been linked with a move for Great Britain international Cecily Turner, who previously represented the club during the 2023/24 season.

The move sees one of Canada’s most experienced internationals remain in the Greek League, while providing Ethnikos with a player who has consistently competed and succeeded at the highest level of the sport.

Ethnikos welcomed Christmas to the club on social media, describing her as an athlete of exceptional quality whose experience and championship pedigree will help elevate the team during the 2026/27 season.

Christmas becomes one of Ethnikos’ headline additions for the upcoming season as the club continues to strengthen a squad capable of challenging for domestic honours and making an impact in European competition.
