Ferencváros continue to dominate Hungarian water polo with an authority no other team can match. The European champions swept aside previously unbeaten BVSC 16–7 in the Round 9 derby, handing the Zugló side their first defeat of the 2025/26 season.
The result not only reaffirmed Fradi’s supremacy but also extended one of the most extraordinary streaks in modern water polo: 112 consecutive wins in Hungarian competitions. Ferencváros have not lost a single match domestically since the 2021/22 season.
Fradi in Full Control From the Start
The highly anticipated derby produced little suspense. Ferencváros dictated the tempo immediately and dismantled BVSC’s usually disciplined defence.
By halftime, Fradi were already 7–2 up, comfortably managing the rhythm and denying BVSC any meaningful momentum.
In the final quarter, the gap grew to 15–5, before BVSC tightened the scoreline slightly in the closing minutes.

Honvéd Edge Eger in 33-Goal Thriller
The round’s most exciting match came in Eger, where Honvéd escaped with a dramatic 17–16 victory.
Honvéd led most of the afternoon but never by more than two goals. Eger kept coming back and finally took the lead twice in the fourth quarter at 14–13 and 15–14, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
But Honvéd answered decisively. A 3–0 burst turned the game around for a 17–15 advantage. Eger pulled one back in the final minute, but the visitors held firm.
