Francesco Di Fulvio completes blockbuster move to CNAB

Francesco Di Fulvio has officially joined CN Atlètic-Barceloneta, bringing an end to his trophy-laden 12-year spell with Pro Recco.

The Italian international becomes a major addition for the newly crowned European champions ahead of the 2026–27 season. The move will also represent the first experience outside Italy for the 32-year-old, who has spent almost his entire senior career at the highest level of the Italian game.

Di Fulvio joined Pro Recco in 2014 and developed into one of the defining players of his generation. He leaves Liguria after winning ten Italian league titles, ten Italian Cups and four Champions League crowns, alongside several European Super Cups and other major honours.

His final European appearance for Recco came against his new club in June’s Champions League final in Malta. Di Fulvio scored twice as the Italian champions were narrowly beaten 17-16, with Barceloneta lifting the trophy for the second time in their history and becoming the first Spanish men’s club to win multiple European titles.

At international level, the versatile attacker was one of the central figures in Italy’s 2019 World Championship triumph, where he was named the tournament’s best player. He also helped the Settebello claim Olympic bronze at Rio 2016 and has collected further medals at World Championships, European Championships and World Cup competitions.

Di Fulvio is currently competing for Sliema in the Maltese Summer League before beginning the next chapter of his career in Barcelona.

His arrival represents a significant statement from CNAB, who are strengthening from a position of success after reclaiming the Champions League title under Fran Fernández. Adding Di Fulvio’s shooting, movement, defensive intelligence and vast experience will make the Spanish champions an even more formidable prospect as they prepare to defend their European crown.
