Ferencváros are now just one win away from retaining their Hungarian League title after a 14–12 victory over Vasas in Game 2 of the finals, held at the Komjádi Pool. Despite Vasas being the official home team, the match followed a similar pattern to Wednesday’s opening clash, which Ferencváros won 15–13. The reigning champions now lead the best-of-five series 2–0 and can seal the championship next weekend.
It was another intense and physical battle between Hungary’s top two sides. Both teams were without key players—Vasas missed Nikola Dedović, while Ferencváros were without Stylianos Argyropoulos.
High-Scoring Match, Narrow Margins
Ferencváros started strongly, taking leads of 2–0 and 3–2, but Vasas pulled level by the end of the first quarter (3–3). In the second period, Ferencváros stepped up their defense and scored three unanswered goals, including one from Márton Vámos, to lead 6–3. Vasas responded with two extra-player goals to narrow the margin to 6–5, but Vendel Vigvári converted a man-up situation to make it 7–5 at halftime.
Dušan Mandić opened the third quarter with a goal to restore a three-goal lead for Ferencváros. Vasas kept fighting, reducing the deficit to one goal on two occasions (7–8 and 8–9). However, late goals from Vigvári and Balázs Manhercz gave the visitors an 11–8 lead heading into the final period.
Ferencváros Stay in Control
Edoardo Di Somma extended the lead to 12–8 early in the fourth quarter. That three-goal run proved decisive, and although Vasas continued to press, scoring twice through Đurđić and Ranđelović, Ferencváros answered with two goals from Gerő Fekete to go up 14–10. Vasas added two late goals, but it wasn’t enough to change the result.
Goalkeeper Duel
Despite the high scoreline, both goalkeepers were active throughout. Soma Vogel made 14 saves for Ferencváros, while Mizei recorded 12 for Vasas. The top scorers were Bogdan Đurđić (Vasas) with four goals, and Márton Vámos and Vendel Vigvári (Ferencváros) with three each.
