Hungarian international goalkeeper Márk Bányai has completed a move to Enka Istanbul, bringing an end to his six-year spell with Szolnok.

The 25-year-old, who featured for Hungary at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and last year’s World Championships, departs Hungary as a national champion and Euro Cup winner. He previously represented Bp. Honvéd and KSI before establishing himself at Szolnok as one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the league.

Farewell to Szolnok

During his time in Szolnok, Bányai played alongside some of the sport’s biggest names, including Viktor Nagy, Filip Filipović and Duško Pijetlović. He highlighted the experience gained under former coach Zsivko Gocics and goalkeeping mentor Gergő Vincze as pivotal to his development. His departure closes a period where he became a key leader in the squad and one of Hungary’s most reliable keepers.

New challenge in Turkey

Enka Istanbul, runners-up in the Turkish league last season, will be hoping Bányai’s arrival helps them close the gap on champions Galatasaray. The club also aims to make progress on the international stage, particularly in the Challenger Cup, after falling short in both the Champions League and Euro Cup qualifiers last year.

The move marks Bányai’s first step abroad. Offers came from clubs in France, Spain and Romania, but Enka’s project and long-term plans proved the most convincing. The Hungarian goalkeeper joins a squad that already features experienced internationals, such as Greek Olympian Giorgos Dervissis.

Looking ahead

Bányai remains ambitious about his international career. Having broken into the Hungarian squad in 2023, he now has the challenge of maintaining his place while competing in Turkey. With his stability and consistency in goal, Enka Istanbul gain a proven performer eager to make an impact both domestically and in Europe.
