Hungary were narrowly beaten 15–14 by Italy in a men’s international preparation match at the Komjádi Béla Sportuszoda in Budapest on Saturday evening.
Italy led throughout the contest after opening the match with a strong first quarter, establishing a 6–4 advantage. Hungary responded in the second period to reduce the deficit, trailing by just one goal at half-time (9–10).
The third quarter followed a similar pattern, with both teams trading goals as Italy maintained a slim lead. Hungary limited Italy to a single goal in the final quarter and managed to draw level at 14–14, but the visitors converted a man-up opportunity in the closing minutes to secure the win.
Vince Vigvári was Hungary’s top scorer with four goals, while Dávid Tátrai and Ákos Nagy added three each. For Italy, Di Somma and Condemi both scored three goals.
The match formed part of both teams’ preparations for the upcoming European Championships in Belgrade in January.
