Olympic silver medalist Elisa Queirolo Joins Kirkintilloch and Kilsyth

Kirkintilloch and Kilsyth has made an impressive move by signing Elisa Queirolo, a former Italian national team standout, to their roster.

Queirolo, 33, brings a wealth of experience to the club following a successful career in Italy and on the international stage.

Queirolo made her professional debut with Rapallo Nuoto in the 2006-2007 season, quickly becoming a standout in the centre back position. Her career highlights include winning the LEN Trophy in 2010 with Rapallo, and later with Pro Recco, securing the European Super Cup, the Champions Cup, and the Italian league title in 2011. She also spent a decade at Plebiscito Padova, where she played until her retirement in August 2024.

Internationally, Queirolo was a key player for Italy’s national team from 2011 to 2024. She was part of Italy’s victorious 2012 European Championship team and helped secure a bronze medal at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships. She also represented Italy at the 2016 Rio Olympics, solidifying her status as one of Italy’s top players.

Though Queirolo retired from professional water polo this summer, her passion for the sport continues. Her move to Kirkintilloch and Kilsyth represents a new chapter, where her vast experience will benefit both the team and its rising players. For the Scottish club, this signing is a significant boost, strengthening their defense and ambitions in domestic and British competitions.

Kirkintilloch and Kilsyth have started their BWPL season well, winning both of their opening matches 15-10 vs Rotherham and 39-5 vs Manchester Comets.
