Pro Recco Claims 18th Coppa Italia title with dominant victory over Savona

Pro Recco secured their 18th Coppa Italia title after comfortably defeating RN Savona 11-5 at the Piscina Scandone in Naples. The win continues Pro Recco’s extraordinary record, marking their 19th consecutive appearance in the Coppa Italia final.

After an intense opening period ending 4-2 in Recco’s favor, the defending champions gradually extended their lead, decisively pulling away in the third quarter. Goals from Giacomo Cannella, Andrea Condemi, and Francesco Di Fulvio highlighted Recco’s attacking prowess, as they extended the gap to a commanding 9-4 lead, effectively sealing the victory.

RN Savona fought bravely but missed key player Damonte due to an elbow injury. Despite their best efforts, the Ligurian side struggled against Recco’s relentless attack, spearheaded by standout performances from Di Fulvio, Cannella, and Aaron Younger, who each netted two goals.

Coach Sandro Sukno praised his team’s performance, stating, “We were dominant throughout the match and managed to shake off the stress from yesterday’s game. Congratulations to the players and the club. We’ve started a new journey with a beautiful trophy won at the historic Scandone pool.”

The final, held at the iconic Piscina Scandone in Naples and broadcast by Rai, marked Pro Recco’s redemption following last year’s loss, reinstating their supremacy in Italian water polo and setting the stage for further ambitions on the European stage.

AN Brescia took third place after beating Pallanuoto Trieste in a dramatic penalty shootout (15-13), following an 11-11 draw in regulation time.
