Radnički edge Novi Beograd in thriller to Take 1–0 lead in Final Series

Radnički Kragujevac claimed a vital first win in the Serbian Super League playoff finals with a hard-fought 13–12 victory over Novi Beograd at home. In a match where no team led by more than a single goal, the reigning champions now have two match balls to secure the national crown—first in Belgrade on May 18, and, if needed, a deciding third leg back in Kragujevac on May 21.

Balanced from the Start

The game opened with fireworks, both sides trading goals in a high-paced first quarter that ended 4–4. Vasić was electric for Radnički, netting two early goals, while Lukić matched him with a brace for the visitors. Novi Beograd struck first but were never able to build a cushion, with the hosts quickly neutralizing each lead.

Tense Second Quarter

Radnički stepped up their defensive intensity in the second period, anchored by solid play from De Mikelis in front of goal. Despite their dominance in possession and shot attempts—30 of which hit the frame—the hosts struggled on the man-up, converting just 4 of 17 opportunities. Novi Beograd fared no better, finishing 3 of 13. The visitors took a slender lead into the half thanks to late goals from Martinović and Dimitrijević, while Drašović and Pijetlović kept Radnički in the game.

Trading Blows in the Third

Momentum swung again in the third quarter, with Vasić and Drašović continuing to shine for Radnički. But Novi Beograd responded through Radović, Martinović, and Gbadamasi, who kept the scoreboard ticking. With neither side able to pull away, the stage was set for a dramatic finale.

Dadvani the Hero

The final quarter slowed noticeably as fatigue set in, and every possession grew in importance. Drašović struck from distance to give Radnički a 12–11 edge, but Gbadamasi equalized soon after with a beautifully executed screw shot. Then, in the middle of the quarter, Stevanović’s tactical switch paid off as Dadvani found the net with what proved to be the decisive goal.

Novi Beograd had a chance to level in the dying moments, but Lukić’s shot drifted wide. Radnički calmly maintained possession in the final seconds to secure the win and send their fans into raptures.
