2026 Hungarian League, Round 19 delivered major movement in the race for the top four, as Szolnok claimed a crucial 14:9 victory over Honved, while BVSC edged Vasas 15:14 in a dramatic Budapest derby.
The results strengthened Szolnok’s grip on fourth place, while BVSC moved to within one point of Honved ahead of their postponed head-to-head clash next week.
Szolnok too strong for Honved
Honved made the brighter start and led 2:1 early, but Szolnok quickly turned the match with a blistering 4:0 run to move 5:2 ahead.
Honved battled back to level at 6:6 in the 11th minute, yet Szolnok responded immediately with two goals and never looked back. The hosts controlled the remainder of the contest, gradually stretching their advantage before sealing an impressive 14:9 win.
Bence Szabo starred with five goals for Szolnok, while Moskov scored three for Honved.
BVSC edge Vasas in derby classic
The standout match of the round came in Budapest, where BVSC defeated Vasas 15:14 in a tense and high-quality derby.
The first half saw constant momentum swings, with neither side able to establish a two-goal cushion. Vasas held a narrow 8:7 lead at the break and still led 9:8 midway through the third quarter.
BVSC then seized control with a decisive 4:0 run to surge ahead 12:9. Vasas responded brilliantly and completed their comeback to level at 14:14 in the 31st minute.
But BVSC had the final word. Zsombor Ekler converted a man-up opportunity on the next possession to settle the contest at 15:14.
Ekler finished with four goals, while David Tatrai added three. Bogdan Djurdjic scored six times for Vasas in defeat.
Ferencvaros cruise again
League leaders Ferencvaros continued their dominant campaign with an emphatic 19:8 win over Szeged.
Krisztián Manhercz and Márton Vámos both scored four goals in another statement victory.
