Transfer News: Uroš Vučurović joins TeLiMar as club eyes further reinforcements

TeLiMar Palermo has made its first major move of the transfer window by officially confirming the signing of Uroš Vučurović. The talented Montenegrin, born in 2001, joins the Sicilian club on a three-year deal, reinforcing the Addaura-based side’s ambitions for domestic and European success.

A product of the renowned Jadran Herceg Novi academy, Vučurović is a versatile player with an already impressive CV. He has claimed six Montenegrin league and cup titles, reached the LEN Euro Cup final in 2019, and earned multiple medals on the international stage — gold at the 2017 U17 European Championships in Malta, silver in Minsk in 2018, and bronze at the 2022 World Championships in Prague. Vučurović also featured for Montenegro’s senior national team at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest and the FINA World League.

In his first statement as a TeLiMar player, Vučurović expressed his excitement:
“I’m very proud and excited to announce my arrival at TeLiMar Palermo and to join this ambitious three-year project. This transfer marks an important step in my professional career. The club has a clear vision and strong values. I can’t wait to work with my new teammates and coaching staff to achieve our goals both in Italy and, soon, on the European stage. I’m grateful to President Marcello Giliberti for this opportunity and the trust he has shown in me.”

Saveljić Rumoured to Be Next

Sources close to Waterpolo360 suggest that Nicolas Saveljić may be on his way to TeLiMar. While the club has not made an official announcement, multiple indications — including direct confirmation to this journalist — point toward the Montenegrin-American as a high-priority target for the Palermitani. For now, the move remains in the rumour category.

If confirmed, the signing of Saveljić would be a major coup. The former UCLA standout boasts an extraordinary résumé: NCAA Tournament MVP, Peter J. Cutino Award winner, and four-time ACWPC All-American. Known for his explosive scoring ability, elite sprinting, and defensive presence, Saveljić combines academic excellence with athletic brilliance — a hallmark of his years with the Bruins. He’s also represented Montenegro at multiple age-group and senior-level events and is widely regarded as one of the top two-way players to emerge from the NCAA system in the past decade.

Francesco Massaro Also Linked

Another name being floated in the Palermo transfer orbit is Francesco Massaro, the 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper currently playing for Primorac. Massaro, a former Pro Recco and Quinto player, has had intermittent involvement with the Italian national team and would bring a wealth of experience to the TeLiMar cage. His potential arrival could signal a strategic reshuffle between the posts, especially if the club qualifies for European competition next season.

TeLiMar Making Early Statement

With Vučurović secured and talks surrounding Saveljić and Massaro gathering momentum, TeLiMar appears intent on building a squad that can challenge Italy’s top sides and make deeper runs in European play. More announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
