Vouliagmeni evens the series with win over Olympiacos in Piraeus

Olympiacos Women’s water polo team fell 10–8 to Vouliagmeni in the second game of the A1 Greek Championship playoff finals, held at the Papastrateio Swimming Pool.

Despite a promising start — leading 2–0 and then 5–4 — the Red-Whites couldn’t hold off a resilient and well-matched Vouliagmeni side, who levelled the series 1-1. The title race now moves to a third clash on Tuesday (27 May, 17:00), at Vouliagmeni’s home pool.

Fast start, but momentum shifts

Olympiacos came out strong, striking twice through Ninoú (6:07) and Vasiliki Plevritou (5:17) to take an early 2–0 lead. However, the visitors responded quickly, and the first quarter ended evenly at 2–2.

Vouliagmeni briefly went ahead in the second period (3–4), but Olympiacos regained control before halftime with a quick transition goal from Santa, making it 5–4 at the break.

In the third quarter, the game’s momentum shifted. Vouliagmeni equalised at 5–5 and then pulled ahead by two (6–8). Triha gave Olympiacos hope with a late strike (0:08) to reduce the deficit to 7–8 entering the final period.

Closing moments

Vouliagmeni once again built a two-goal cushion (7–9) in the fourth. Triha responded (9–8 with 2:16 left), but Olympiacos couldn’t find the equaliser. With just one second on the clock, Krassa sealed the win for the visitors with a counter-attack goal, making it 10–8.
