Zvezda dismisses president amid deepening squad crisis

Crvena Zvezda’s Extraordinary Assembly has unanimously dismissed club president Vesna Nikolić, following a meeting held at the SD Crvena Zvezda hall which she did not attend. The Assembly had expected Nikolić to present a report on the club’s difficult situation, but instead proceeded directly to a vote of no confidence.

Secretary General Goran Jezdić confirmed that Nikolić was removed as the club’s legal representative in the Serbian Business Registers Agency (APR), while he was reinstated in that role. He cited responsibility for the current situation and procedural issues linked to previous Assembly minutes.

Until a new president is appointed — a process expected to take 45 to 60 days — the club will be managed by Aleksandar Filipović, who is both director and head coach.

Zvezda’s sporting situation remains uncertain. Several players have already left the club, while Aleksandar Marković and Vuk Vitorović have not attended training since November 17. According to Filipović, only six to seven players are currently training, raising concerns over the club’s ability to meet competition regulations set by the Water Polo Association of Serbia.

Further decisions regarding the squad and the continuation of the season are expected in the coming period.
