Barceloneta fits perfectly with my style – Vince Vigvari

There is a lot of excitement and interest surrounding how Vince Vigvári will fare at Barceloneta.

At just 20 years old, Vigvári has already established himself as one of the next big names in water polo. His insights into life at his new club offer a glimpse into his ambitions and mindset as he adjusts to both a highly competitive environment and a new country.

Speaking with Polo Updates, Vigvári shared, “One of the reasons I joined Barceloneta is that I felt my style fits well with the team. We have so much potential, and I think our speed is a real asset.”

However, the path to Champions League glory is not easy, especially for Barceloneta, who haven’t lifted the trophy in over two decades. “Of course, winning the Champions League would be incredible, and everyone—players, coaches, even the president—dreams of taking those final steps. But it’s going to take a lot of hard work and sacrifice. We have amazing individual talent, but at this level, tournaments are won by teams, not individuals. We need to find consistency in the big moments, but we have a good mix of energy from newcomers and experienced players who have been playing here for a long time,” he added.

Since his arrival at Barceloneta, Vigvári has enjoyed a strong pre-season, helping the team build both chemistry and momentum. The recent victory in the Copa Catalunya, along with a productive training camp in Athens with Olympiacos, has given the squad a boost ahead of the upcoming season.

“Pre-season has been going really well! We started by playing in the Copa Catalunya (we won the final against Sabadell last Sunday), and we also had a 4-day training camp in Athens with Olympiacos, which went pretty well. The chemistry between the team is growing, and I can already see us improving. The coaches, staff, and teammates have all been amazing, and I’m really enjoying everything so far,” said Vigvári, brimming with optimism about his time in Spain.

For the young Hungarian, moving to a new country at such a young age brings challenges both in and out of the pool. He has embraced the experience and is adapting quickly, though it hasn’t come without its difficulties. Reflecting on his biggest adjustment so far, he shared, “Definitely getting used to being in a new country and being on my own. The team’s super welcoming, and I hang out with the guys a lot, but being independent has been an adjustment. Water polo-wise, it’s also a new way of thinking and playing, plus the language barrier, but I’m learning Spanish as fast as I can and getting better every day!”

As the new season begins, all eyes will be on Vigvári and Barceloneta as they pursue their European ambitions.
