The Olympiacos women’s water polo team has today traveled to Barcelona, Spain, as part of their preparations for the upcoming season.
The reigning Greek champions will face Spain’s top teams, Mataro, the current Spanish champions, and Sabadell, the European champions, in a series of official matches during their stay in Barcelona.
This season marks Olympiacos’ centennial, and they are set to kick off their 2024-25 campaign with the Greek Super Cup against Ethnikos on October 10th.
During their Spanish trip, Olympiacos’ schedule includes a match against European champions Sabadell on Friday, October 4th, at 20:45 CET, providing an early test of their form. On Saturday, October 5th, at 13:00, they will face off against Mataró.
The Red-Whites will then return to Greece on Sunday, October 6th, to resume training at their home base in Papastrateio, gearing up for the challenges of the new season, whereby Olympiacos hopes to win its 12th league title in a row.
Test matches and friendlies are common this time of year, especially for the teams already qualified to the main round of the Champions League. Hungarian champions UVSE host their Italian counterparts for a series of joint training sessions and an exhibition match.
