BVSC dominates Szolnok to bolster playoff hopes

BVSC took a significant step toward securing a playoff spot with a commanding 11:5 victory over Szolnok in the 21st round of the Hungarian League.

The win keeps BVSC in 5th place but narrows the gap to just three points behind Szolnok, which has now dropped from 2nd to 4th following back-to-back losses.

The match, played in Budapest, saw BVSC start strong, racing to a 4:1 lead in the first quarter. They extended the advantage to 5:1 with an early power-play goal in the second period and later pushed the margin to 7:2. Szolnok attempted a comeback, cutting the deficit to 4:8 and 5:9, but BVSC sealed the win with two quick goals at the start of the final quarter. The last six minutes saw no further goals. David Tartai and Akos Konarik led BVSC’s offense, each scoring three times.

Meanwhile, Ferencvaros continued its dominance with a 13:8 win over Honved, marking its 34th victory of the season. After an even start, Ferencvaros took control with a four-goal run between the 6th and 10th minutes, pulling ahead from 2:2 to 6:2. The European champions built a seven-goal lead in the third period before easing off. Vendel Vigvari and Akos Nagy each netted three goals for Ferencvaros, while Honved’s Kevi Bendeguz matched their tally.

Elsewhere, Lars ten Broek scored four times to lead OSC Budapest to an 11:6 win over Szeged. After conceding an early 1:3 deficit, OSC responded with a 6:0 run, finishing the first half with a 7:3 lead. The victory lifts OSC to 2nd place, three points ahead of Vasas, though Vasas has a game in hand. The Kaposvar-Vasas fixture has been postponed to April.
