BVSC linked with moves for Nika Shushiasvili and Benedek Batizi

BVSC-Zugló, fresh off their third-place finish in this year’s Hungarian League, are reportedly exploring two ambitious transfer moves ahead of the 2025/26 season, with interest mounting in Georgian international Nika Shushiasvili and Hungarian national team centre-forward Benedek Batizi.

After signing with 2023–24 Montenegrin champions Primorac Kotor, Shushiasvili is now believed to be attracting attention from the Budapest-based club. The 26-year-old left-hander spent this season with Primorac and the previous one in Greece with Apollon Smyrnis. Over the years, he has steadily built a reputation as a dynamic attacking threat with a powerful left arm.

Shushiasvili’s career has been marked by impressive versatility and adaptability. After beginning in Georgia, he moved to Serbia in 2017 to play for Sabac, followed by stints with Spandau Berlin in Germany, Dinamo Tbilisi, VK Beograd, and most recently Apollon. His international credentials are just as strong — he played a pivotal role in Georgia’s 10th-place finish at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest and their eighth-place result at the European Championships in Split later that year.

Meanwhile, BVSC may also be close to reuniting with a former youth product: Benedek Batizi. The 23-year-old centre-forward, currently with Vasas, recently made his debut for the Hungarian senior national team at the World Cup in Podgorica. Batizi began his water polo journey with BVSC before transferring to Vasas two seasons ago. A potential return to Zugló would see him link up once more with head coach Dániel Varga, who is widely respected for nurturing young Hungarian talent.

Batizi’s combination of strength, positional awareness, and recent international experience make him one of the most promising players in Hungary’s next generation of centre-forwards.

If BVSC are able to secure both signings, it would mark a significant statement of intent as the club looks to solidify its position among the top contenders in Hungary’s OB I league. No official announcements have been made, but sources close to both players suggest that negotiations are underway.

With the summer transfer window heating up, these two moves could redefine BVSC’s ambitions for the season ahead.
