Marco Del Lungo has completed a move to Rari Nantes Savona, bringing an end to his highly successful tenure with Pro Recco. The 35-year-old goalkeeper joins the Ligurian club as part of a direct switch, with Gianmarco Nicosia signing for Recco on a multi-year contract.
Del Lungo arrives with a wealth of experience. After developing at Civitavecchia, he spent ten seasons at AN Brescia, collecting domestic and European silverware, including a Serie A title and the 2016 Euro Cup. In 2021, he joined Recco and played a key role in their dominance, winning back-to-back Champions League titles, several Italian trophies, and the 2025 Euro Cup.
On the international stage, Del Lungo has been a mainstay for the Italian national team since 2013, amassing nearly 300 caps. His honours include Olympic bronze in 2016, World Championship gold in 2019, and silver in 2024. Although he has not been named in Italy’s squad for the upcoming summer tournaments, he has not formally retired from international duty.
Savona’s signing of Del Lungo signals their ambition to consolidate their place among Italy’s top sides and push further in European competitions.
