Pro Recco have officially announced the signing of Croatian international Rino Burić on a two-year contract. The 27-year-old defender joins from Jug Dubrovnik, adding further strength to an already star-studded roster as the Italian champions continue to build for another dominant season.
Burić, born on 5 April 1997, has had a remarkable run of success in recent years. A product of Mornar Split, he later made his name at Jadran Split before joining Jug in 2023. Over the last two seasons, he became a cornerstone of the Dubrovnik side, scoring 134 goals across league and European fixtures. Known for his versatility, strength in defence, and perimeter shooting, Burić offers a rare combination of physicality and technical quality.
On the international stage, Burić has been an integral part of Croatia’s golden generation. He won the European Championships in Split (2022), the World Championships in Doha (2024), and took silver at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. He was also named Croatia’s Water Polo Player of the Year in 2023.
“It’s a dream come true,” Burić said. “I’m coming to the best water polo club in the world, with a great history and tradition. My personal ambition is to win all the trophies possible. When mister Sukno called me to come to Pro Recco, I didn’t think twice. I spent two wonderful years at Jug Dubrovnik, but I felt I needed a change — and Pro Recco is the best choice for me. I promise the Biancocelesti fans that we will do everything to make them proud.”
Burić becomes the latest high-profile addition to Recco’s squad for the 2025–26 season, following the arrivals of Spanish superstar Álvaro Granados, American Max Irving, Italian goalkeeper Gianmarco Nicosia. With these reinforcements, the reigning Euro Cup winners appear fully focused on extending their domestic and continental dominance.
