Del Lungo, Younger and Hallock to leave Pro Recco at the end of the season

Pro Recco will bid farewell to three key players—Marco Del Lungo, Aaron Younger, and Ben Hallock—at the conclusion of the current season, marking the end of a remarkable chapter for the prestigious Italian club.

Aaron Younger (33) and Ben Hallock (27) joined Pro Recco in the 2020/2021 season, swiftly becoming essential pillars in one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. During their tenure, both players contributed decisively to securing three Champions League titles, three Scudetti, three European Super Cups, and four Italian Cups, underscoring their influential roles in Pro Recco’s European and domestic dominance.

Younger, born in Perth on September 25, 1991, brought vast international experience to the Italian champions, having competed in the 2012 London Olympics with Australia and played for top clubs across Europe including Jug Dubrovnik, Szolnok, and Ferencváros. His versatility in midfield and leadership qualities have been vital components of Pro Recco’s success.

Hallock, a standout American center-forward born November 22, 1997, quickly established himself as one of the best at his position. A former Stanford Cardinal NCAA champion and two-time Olympian who captained Team USA at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics (winning an Olympic bronze medal in Paris), Hallock’s physicality and scoring prowess made him indispensable in Pro Recco’s offense.

Marco Del Lungo, the experienced 35-year-old goalkeeper joined Pro Recco in the summer of 2021 following a decade with rivals Brescia. Del Lungo significantly reinforced Recco’s defensive solidity, leading the club to two Champions League victories, three league titles, three European Super Cups, and three Italian Cups. His international pedigree includes an Olympic bronze medal with Italy at the 2016 Rio Games.

Speculation about their next destinations continues to swirl. Del Lungo has been strongly linked to a potential swap involving Marco Nicosia at Savona, while future clubs for Younger and Hallock remain uncertain.

The departure of these three elite athletes signifies a notable shift for Pro Recco, which now faces the challenge of rebuilding and maintaining its high standards both domestically and internationally. The club and its fans will surely remember Younger, Hallock, and Del Lungo not only for the trophies they won but also for their lasting contributions to one of water polo’s most storied teams.
