Plebiscito Padova, BVSC, Catalunya and Polar Bears all moved closer to the Euro Cup Women quarter-finals after registering important victories on Day 3 of the Group Stage.
Group A
Lille UC (FRA) 12–24 Polar Bears (NED)
Standings: 1. Ethnikos 6pts, 2. Polar Bears 3pts, 3. Lille UC 0pts
After an even opening quarter (6–6), Polar Bears took full control with a decisive 0–9 run spanning the second and third periods to secure a convincing away win. Marjolein De Gier led the scoring with five goals, while Kiara Heerink added four. Despite four goals from Lara Andres, Lille struggled to keep pace and now face a difficult road ahead in the group.
Group B
BVSC Manna ABC (HUN) 13–11 ANC Glyfada iRepair (GRE)
Standings: 1. BVSC 6pts, 2. Glyfada 3pts, 3. Hapoel Yoqneam 0pts
The match of the day came in Budapest, where BVSC edged Glyfada in a tense battle for top spot. The Hungarians led 6–3 at half-time, but Glyfada roared back, with Great Britain international Lily Turner scoring four, including a last-second penalty in the third quarter to make it 9–8.
BVSC held their nerve in the closing stages, converting key man-up chances to stay ahead. Pien Gorter’s long-range strike proved decisive as BVSC claimed a second straight win and tightened their grip on qualification.
Group C
Antenore Plebiscito Padova (ITA) 20–7 Grand Nancy AC (FRA)
Standings: 1. Padova 6pts, 2. Zodiac CNAB 3pts, 3. Grand Nancy 0pts
Padova delivered one of the performances of the round, overwhelming Grand Nancy to all but secure a quarter-final place. Emma Bacelle was Padova’s most impactful player with four scores.
After racing into a 7–3 lead, the Italians pulled away decisively in the third quarter with a six-goal unanswered run. Despite a spirited effort from a short-handed Grand Nancy squad, Padova closed the match with authority.
Group D
EPlus CN Catalunya (ESP) 21–12 III. Keruleti TVE (HUN)
Standings: 1. Trieste 6pts, 2. Catalunya 3pts, 3. Kerulet 0pts
Catalunya claimed a crucial win in Barcelona to put qualification firmly within reach. Julia Frigola led the charge with six goals, supported by Belen Vosseberg and Lucia Gomez de la Puente, who scored four apiece.
Two dominant scoring bursts in the second half sealed the outcome, despite five goals from Eniko Rajna for Kerulet. With three points on the board, Catalunya now require one more result to move into the last eight.
