Marko Radulović joins Mladost after brief Primorje return amid financial difficulties

After just six months back at Primorje EB, Marko Radulović has completed a move to HAVK Mladost, with the transfer understood to be driven by the Rijeka club’s ongoing financial problems.

While the winter period is traditionally quieter at club level due to international commitments, Mladost have remained active. The Zagreb side have agreed terms with the 24-year-old, who is expected to join training on Wednesday, 17 December.

Radulović, a Rijeka native, came through the youth system at Primorje EB before switching sporting nationality five years ago to represent Serbia. He has since appeared intermittently for the Serbian national team, including at the 2024 European Championships in Zagreb. He narrowly missed selection for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and is not included in Serbia’s wider squad for the European Championships in Belgrade in January 2026.

One of the more striking aspects of Radulović’s career has been its constant movement. Since leaving Primorje EB as a 17-year-old in 2019, he has represented Vojvodina Novi Sad, Šabac, Radnički Kragujevac, Novi Beograd and Italy’s Posillipo, before returning to Rijeka in June this year. His move to Mladost now makes it effectively his seventh club in six years.

Despite his short second spell at Primorje, Radulović made a strong impact. He finished the first half of the season as the club’s leading scorer, with 17 goals in four league matches, placing him among the most prolific players in the Croatian championship. Only Vlaho Pavlić and Maro Šušić (Jug) and Ivan Nagaev (Mladost) have scored more, all with an additional match played.

His departure is understood to be a consequence of serious financial difficulties at Primorje EB, which have reportedly made it impossible for the club to meet contractual obligations, particularly for its highest-value players.

A versatile option, Radulović is comfortable on both sides of the pool, offers a powerful shot, swims well, and can also operate effectively in defensive roles. He becomes the fourth player in the past six months to move from Primorje EB to Mladost, following goalkeeper Mauro Ivan Čubranić, centre Viktor Tončinić and defender Karlo Babić. Notably, Mladost sporting director Petar Muslim also previously worked at Primorje.

Concerns remain about the broader situation in Rijeka, with indications that Radulović may not be the last player to leave Kantrida. Any further weakening of Primorje EB would be a significant blow, not only for the club itself, but for the overall competitiveness of the Croatian league.
