European Aquatics Announces Water Polo Super Cup Dates for 2023

European Aquatics has confirmed the dates for the highly anticipated 2024 Water Polo Super Cup finals. Fans can look forward to two thrilling matches, with the men’s showdown scheduled for October 5th in Budapest and the women’s clash set for October 18th in Sabadell.

In the men’s Super Cup, Champions League winners FTC-Telekom from Hungary will host Croatia’s Jug Adriatic Osiguranje. FTC-Telekom, who recently reclaimed the Champions League title after a five-year hiatus by defeating defending champions Pro Recco, are eager to add another prestigious trophy to their collection. The match will take place in Budapest, kicking off at 20:00 CET.

Jug Dubrovnik, holders of the Euro Cup, will be looking to disrupt the dominance of Champions League winners, who have claimed the Super Cup title 20 times since 2002. Only one Euro Cup champion has managed to upset this trend, with Ferencváros securing a historic victory in 2018. Jug’s last Super Cup win came in 2016, and they will be determined to end the Champions League winner’s grip on the title.

On October 18, the women’s Super Cup will see Spain’s Astralpool Sabadell take on Italy’s Plebiscito Padova in Sabadell. Sabadell, fresh off winning their seventh Champions League Women title, will aim to secure their fifth Super Cup trophy. The Spanish giants have contested six Super Cup finals, winning four. However, they have fallen short twice, both times against Italian opposition—losing to Pro Recco in 2011 and Orizzonte in 2019. The match is set to start at 19:00 CET.

Both Super Cup finals will be streamed live on euroaquaticstv.com, so don’t miss out on the action!
