Ferencvaros and Catalunya win U19s Cup in Barcelona

Ferencvaros and Catalunya ran out winners at BIWPA’s Next Generation Cup in Barcelona this weekend.

The U19 men’s tournament, dubbed the ‘Youth Champions League,’ was won by Hungarian club Ferencvaros with a 9-6 victory over Sabac, while Catalunya’s women’s team upset the hosts, Sabadell, to claim a 6-5 derby win in the final.

Twenty teams from 10 different nations and nearly 400 players participated in this, the second edition of the annual tournament, which featured some of Europe’s top clubs and developing national teams.

Over the course of three days, more than 50 matches were played, showcasing the best youth water polo teams from Spain, Hungary, France, the United Kingdom, Serbia, the United States, the Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa, and Malta.
