FTC edged closer to reclaiming the Hungarian Women’s Championship title with a 9–6 win over UVSE in the second game of the finals series. With a 2–0 lead in the best-of-five series, the reigning champions are now just one win away from sealing the gold.
Once again, defense made the difference. FTC’s disciplined and aggressive structure stifled UVSE’s attack, who, for the second game running, struggled to convert with the player advantage. The hosts ended the game scoring just 4 times from 19 extra-player opportunities—mirroring their struggles in Game 1, where they converted only 4 of 16.
Despite a raucous home crowd at Hajós Alfréd pool, which included vocal support from UTE football ultras, UVSE couldn’t build sustained momentum. FTC started strong, with Kamilla Faragó opening the scoring. Although UVSE responded through Valeria Palmieri and Szonja Kuna, the match remained tight after the first period (2–3).
The second quarter continued in similar fashion. UVSE’s extra-player situations repeatedly broke down, while Orsolya Hertzka punished them at the other end with her powerful outside shots. After a long scoring drought, Tiba Panna finally found the net for UVSE, but FTC responded immediately through Hertzka again to restore their two-goal cushion heading into halftime (3–5).
The third quarter was defined by missed chances and tight defending. While UVSE couldn’t break down the Fradi defense, goalkeeper Alexandra Kiss made a crucial penalty save, keeping her side in front. Eventually, Szegedi Panni broke the deadlock with a pinpoint finish to bring UVSE within one goal (4–5).
In the final period, FTC reasserted control. Goals from Dora Leimeter, Vanda Baksa, and Palmieri re-established a comfortable lead, with the titleholders showing more efficiency and composure under pressure. UVSE continued to misfire—finishing the game with just 4 goals from 18 extra-player chances.
Ferencváros’ defensive discipline, even at the cost of numerous exclusions, proved too much for UVSE to overcome. The green-and-whites now lead the series 2–0 and can clinch the title on Tuesday.
