Hungary announces squad for the Men’s waterpolo World Cup Super Final

Head coach Zsolt Varga has named the 15-player roster that will travel to Sydney, aiming to challenge for the title while continuing to build for the future of the Hungarian national team.

The Hungarian waterpolo Federation has officially announced the men’s national team squad for the World Cup Super Final, which will be held in Sydney, Australia, later this month. Head coach Zsolt Varga has selected a 15-player roster that will represent Hungary in one of the most prestigious competitions on the international calendar.

Varga opted to reveal his squad before the team’s joint training sessions with Croatia, allowing players who were not selected additional rest ahead of the upcoming club season. Meanwhile, young talents Csongor Lugosi and Dávid Tátrai will continue training with the team as reserves.

One of the most notable absences is goalkeeper Soma Vogel, who will miss the tournament for family reasons. The Hungarian coach explained that the World Cup will also provide an opportunity to evaluate several younger players who could become regular members of the national team in the future.

Before the Super Final begins, Hungary will take part in a preparation tournament against Australia, Greece, Japan and Montenegro. The Hungarians will then open their World Cup campaign on July 23 with a quarterfinal clash against Croatia.
