Croatian international Jerko Marinic Kragic has completed a move to Romanian champions Steaua Bucharest for the 2026–27 season.
Steaua confirmed the arrival of the experienced attacker, describing his signing as a major addition ahead of the new campaign. The move represents a return to familiar surroundings for Marinic Kragic, who previously spent two seasons with the Bucharest club.
The 35-year-old leaves Jadran Split following a successful spell with his hometown side. Jadran recently confirmed that Marinic Kragic was among seven players departing the club as part of a significant summer rebuild.
He is currently representing San Giljan in the 2026 Maltese Summer League before linking up with Steaua for the beginning of the European club season. His agreement with the Maltese champions was specifically for the summer competition rather than a permanent transfer.
Marinic Kragic remained an influential figure for Jadran during his final campaign, helping the Croatian side reach the Euro Cup final. He produced one of the standout performances of the competition by scoring seven goals in the second leg of Jadran’s semi-final victory over BVSC.
Jadran eventually finished as runners-up after an entertaining two-legged final against Marseille. The Split side won the return match 16–14 but were beaten by one goal on aggregate.
His arrival strengthens a Steaua team that reclaimed the Romanian championship in May, defeating CSM Oradea in a closely contested five-match final series. It was the club’s 21st national title.
Marinic Kragic also brings extensive international experience. He helped Croatia win the 2024 World Championship in Doha before collecting an Olympic silver medal in Paris later that year. His career also includes European Championship gold with the Croatian national team.
Steaua have not announced any further details regarding the agreement, but Marinic Kragic is confirmed as part of their squad for the 2026–27 campaign.
