Loren Fatović linked with Olympiacos move as summer transfer nears

One of Croatia’s leading water polo players, Loren Fatović, is edging closer to a major summer move, with strong reports linking him to Olympiacos — where his father, Elvis Fatović, is currently head coach.

While the transfer is not yet official, sources in Croatia suggest the deal is at an advanced stage, with the Greek champions pushing to secure one of the region’s top right-handed attackers. The story has circulated for some time, but growing momentum in Greece indicates that a move could now be close.

Fatović’s contract with Jadran Split expires this summer, making the transfer a realistic possibility. The 29-year-old joined Jadran in 2023 and has been a key figure ever since, playing a central role in back-to-back Croatian Championship titles in 2024 and 2025.

A consistent performer in high-pressure matches, Fatović has regularly delivered in decisive moments. This season, he is among Jadran’s leading scorers in the Croatian Championship, underlining his continued importance to the side and his status as one of the top players in the region.

Having developed at Jug Dubrovnik, Fatović has spent his entire club career in Croatia to date. A move to Olympiacos would mark his first experience abroad — and a significant new chapter.

For Olympiacos, the potential signing would represent a major statement. The club is reshaping its squad ahead of next season but remains determined to maintain its elite level in European competition. With key departures expected, including at centre position, strengthening the roster is a priority.

Fatović’s arrival would not only add quality and experience but also bring a compelling personal storyline, reuniting him with his father at club level. That connection is also seen as a factor that could ease his transition into a new league and environment.
