Olympiacos’ women’s water polo team have been awarded a €100,000 bonus following their victory in the 2026 Champions League Final Four in Malta.
Vangelis Marinakis, president of Olympiacos FC, rewarded the newly crowned European champions after they defeated Ferencvaros in a dramatic final to secure the fourth Champions League title in the club’s history.
The €100,000 payment is understood to be a collective bonus for the team rather than an individual payment to each player.
Olympiacos Amateur president Michalis Kountouris announced the news to the squad while the team were travelling to the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium following their return to Greece.
A video shared following the announcement showed the players celebrating enthusiastically after being informed of the reward from Marinakis.
The Greek champions returned home to a warm reception after overcoming Ferencvaros 17–14 following a penalty shootout in Malta.
The final had finished 14–14 after regulation, with Olympiacos scoring twice in the closing stages to force penalties before converting all three of their attempts in the shootout. Goalkeeper Britt Dobbelsteen produced three consecutive saves to secure the trophy.
The victory added another major achievement to Olympiacos’ extraordinary history in women’s water polo.
The club have now won the Champions League four times, having previously lifted the trophy in the 2014–15, 2020–21 and 2021–22 seasons.
Their latest success also represents the eighth European trophy won by the women’s department, alongside one LEN Trophy and three European Super Cups.
Olympiacos have collected 34 major trophies overall, including 16 Greek championships, seven Greek Cups and three Greek Super Cups.
The €100,000 bonus provides another reward for a squad that completed the season by reclaiming European water polo’s biggest club prize and strengthening Olympiacos’ position as one of the most successful women’s teams in the history of the sport.
