SIS Roma has announced the first signing of its 2025/26 season: Dutch international Maxine Schaap will join the club from Plebiscito Padova.

Schaap, 24, is regarded as one of the most dynamic attacking players in the women’s game. Born in Zaandam, she began playing water polo at the age of seven with ZV De Zaan and has steadily developed into a key figure at both club and international level

She arrived in Italy in 2023, and enjoyed a highly successful first campaign with Padova, playing a central role in the team’s triumph in the 2024 Euro Cup. Her performances at club level were matched by international success, having been part of the Netherlands squad that won the World Championship in Fukuoka in 2023. Most recently, she helped the Dutch national team secure third place at the World Cup Finals in Chengdu.
