Australian goalkeeper Nic Porter is being linked with a move to French giants CN Marseille, in what would be one of the more intriguing goalkeeper switches of the summer.
Porter, a Paris 2024 Olympian with Australia, spent last season with Greek side Panionios after leaving Atlètic-Barceloneta, where he enjoyed a decorated three-year spell in Spain. During his time with Barceloneta, the Australian collected three Spanish league titles, three Spanish Cups, three Spanish Super Cups, three Catalan Cups and two Champions League bronze medals.
Now, according to transfer rumours, Marseille could be preparing to bring Porter back into one of Europe’s most competitive club environments.
For Marseille, the potential signing would represent another statement of intent. The French club has already shown its ambition in Europe, and adding a goalkeeper with Porter’s experience in Spain, Greece, the Champions League and international competition would give them another high-level option as they look to remain among the continent’s elite.
No official announcement has yet been made.
