Australian goalkeeper Nic Porter is set for a fresh start in Greece, signing with Panionios following a decorated three-year spell at Atlètic-Barceloneta.
The 26-year-old wraps up his time in Spain with an impressive collection of honours:

- 3× Spanish league titles
- 3× Spanish cup titles
- 3× Spanish Super Cup titles
- 3× Catalan cup titles
Since joining CNAB in 2021, Porter has become one of the most consistent and respected goalkeepers in European water polo, playing a vital role in the club’s domestic dominance and repeated appearances in the Champions League Final Four.
“Stoked to get another medal in the Champions League,” Porter said following the 2025 bronze medal match. “We were disappointed with our result in the semi-final but really proud of how we dominated the bronze match. A beautiful way to cap off three amazing years with CNAB.”
Before his European breakthrough, Porter spent several seasons playing college water polo in the United States with the USC Trojans, establishing himself as a standout NCAA goalkeeper. In 2022, he returned to Australia to play for Queensland Thunder in the Australian Waterpolo League.
Internationally, Porter has steadily risen through the ranks with the Aussie Sharks. He was part of the squad that won silver at the 2022 World League Intercontinental Cup in Peru, and later that year made his World Championships debut in Budapest.
Now, as he prepares to join Panionios in the Greek A1 League, Porter is currently back with the Aussie Sharks in California as the team begins final preparations for the 2025 World Championships in Singapore.
