Pallanuoto Trieste sign Niko Cubranic, part ways with Bence Szabo

Double roster movement for Pallanuoto Trieste, who have confirmed the arrival of Croatian winger Niko Cubranic and the termination of Hungarian center forward Bence Szabo.

Cubranic, born in Rijeka in 2003, is a product of VK Primorje and was part of the team that reached the Euro Cup final in 2024, scoring four goals at the Final Four, including three in the semifinal against Spandau 04. He has also played for Dinamo Bucharest and VK Solaris, and joins Trieste on a deal until the end of the season.

“I’m really happy to be here and very motivated,” Cubranic said. “The team is strong and well organised, and I believe we can achieve our goals.”

General manager Andrea Brazzatti confirmed Szabo’s departure was a technical decision, linked to injuries and the need to strengthen the wing positions. Head coach Maurizio Mirarchi added that Cubranic can play at both positions two and four and will be an important option in the second half of the season.
