Panathinaikos may have parted ways with Olympic champion Viktor Rasovic, but the Athens-based club is already laying the foundations for a fresh chapter as it prepares for next season’s Euro Cup campaign.
Reliable sources have confirmed that Montenegrin centre-forward Dusan Banicevic will join the Greens, departing Jadran Split after helping the Croatian side to a national championship title.
Banicevic, 26, arrived in Split last summer following spells with Jadran Herceg Novi, Sabadell, and Spandau 04. He made his debut for the Montenegrin senior national team in 2020, played at the Tokyo Olympics, and was part of the squad that won the World League in 2021. Although he fell out of the national setup after 2022, Banicevic returned this year and played a key role in Montenegro’s fifth-place finish at the World Cup.
His arrival follows the recent announcement that Greek international Dimitrios Skoumpakis will also join Panathinaikos after completing the season with Novi Beograd at the Champions League Final Four in Malta.
With these early moves, Panathinaikos signals its ambition to be a serious contender on the European stage next season.
