All teams were in action on Saturday for the second round of Italy’s men’s Serie A1 championship, with the title contenders asserting early dominance.
Reigning champions Pro Recco recorded an 18–11 victory over Pallanuoto Trieste at the Sciorba pool in Genoa. Coach Sandro Sukno’s side featured eleven outfield players, with Francesco Di Fulvio and Iocchi Gratta both scoring hat-tricks in a commanding performance.
AN Brescia overcame CN Posillipo 16–14 in Naples. Despite the tight scoreline, Brescia largely dictated proceedings. Nicholas Alesiani was in superb form, netting five times, while Ferrero and Balzarini added three goals apiece. Pino Porzio’s Posillipo pushed the visitors hard, but ultimately fell short.
In Florence, CC Ortigia 1928 picked up their first win of the season, defeating RN Florentia 17–15. The sides were level at 12–12 after three periods before Ortigia’s attack surged late, powered by six goals from Carnesecchi and five from Baksa.
Elsewhere, Telimar Palermo claimed a narrow 8–6 home win over Training Academy Olympic Roma in a match defined by strong defensive play and standout goalkeeping at both ends.
Banco BPM RN Savona enjoyed a comfortable 21–9 victory away at De Akker Bologna, setting the tone early with a 6–1 first period. Leinweber led the scoring with five goals, supported by a four-goal haul from Figlioli.
One of the weekend’s most dramatic matches came in Genoa, where Iren Genova Quinto and Roma Vis Nova finished 12–12 in regulation. Roma ultimately prevailed 16–14 after a penalty shootout — the first of the season in Serie A1 — with Correggia making two decisive saves. Gogov scored four for Quinto, while Mercep replied with four for Roma.
In the Campania derby between newly promoted sides, Canottieri Napoli earned a 14–9 win over RN Nuoto Salerno at the Felice Scandone pool, sealing their first points of the season.
