Sabac have secured a major reinforcement in goal ahead of the 2025/26 season with the signing of Montenegrin goalkeeper Darko Djurovic.
The 25-year-old arrives from Jadran Herceg Novi, where he spent four seasons as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. During his time in Montenegro, Djurovic helped Jadran win five national championships, five domestic cups, and twice secure third place in the Regional League. He also featured regularly in European competition, with appearances in both the Champions League and the Euro Cup.
Internationally, Djurovic has been part of the Montenegrin national team setup, appearing at the 2023 and 2025 World Cups. His experience and consistency are expected to significantly boost Sabac’s defensive stability as the club looks to build on its third-place finish in the 2025 Serbian League.
In a secondary addition, the Serbian side also welcome Australian attacker Matthew Byrns.
The 24-year-old, a four-time Australian champion with UNSW Wests Magpies, joins after a season in Spain with Sant Andreu and an Olympic appearance for the Australian national team in Paris, where the Sharks finished eighth.
