Sabadell Crowned Champions of Spain for the 21st Time

Sabadell are once again champions of Spain, claiming their 21st national title after a dramatic 8–7 win over Sant Andreu in the decisive third match of the league finals. In what was a spectacular and hard-fought series between two of Europe’s finest teams, Sabadell sealed a historic treble — having already lifted the Supercopa, the Champions League, and the Copa de la Reina. Sant Andreu, meanwhile, take pride in an exceptional season capped with the domestic league trophy.

The third and final clash in the series delivered fewer goals than the first two meetings, with both sides feeling the weight of the occasion early on. The nerves were clear, and it was Sabadell who settled quicker. Ari Ruiz and Paula Crespí opened the scoring to put the visitors 2–0 ahead, before Paula Leitón — outstanding once again at centre-forward — pulled one back before the first break.

Sant Andreu grew into the game in the second quarter, showing their resilience and quality. A 3–1 run gave David Palma’s team a 4–3 lead just before half-time, and they entered the second half with momentum on their side.

A Final of Fine Margins

After the break, Ilse Schuijt brought Sabadell level before a powerful surge from the visitors saw them net three unanswered goals, opening up a 7–4 lead and sending the Can Llong crowd into a frenzy.

Yet Sant Andreu refused to go quietly. Elena Ruiz and María Palacio hit back to close the gap, but Van de Kraats responded with a vital goal to restore Sabadell’s two-goal cushion. Elena Ruiz struck again with just over two minutes left on the clock to make it 8–7, setting up a nerve-shredding finale. Despite their best efforts, Sant Andreu couldn’t find the equaliser to force penalties.

The final whistle confirmed Sabadell as champions once more — a fitting farewell for Mati Ortiz, who brought the curtain down on her extraordinary career in front of a jubilant home crowd.
