Dinamo Tbilisi has announced the appointment of Greek coach Athanasios Kechagias as their new head coach.
Kechagias brings a wealth of international experience, having previously coached the Greek youth and senior national teams, as well as the Romanian and Australian women’s national teams.
The appointment today comes after Dejan Stanojevic’s contract expired.
Most recently, Kechagias led Germany’s Spandau 04 Berlin for a year before his departure from the club in 2023. His extensive coaching background also includes roles with Egyptian side Gezira and Greek clubs Nireas Chalandriou and Ionikos.
Dinamo Tbilisi’s campaign in the 2024 water polo season kicks off on October 8th with a challenging away fixture against Hungarian powerhouse Ferencváros in Group B. The group is widely regarded as one of the most competitive in the tournament, featuring other top European clubs such as Croatia’s Jadran Split and Serbia’s Radnički.
