The second week of October will deliver a double dose of European Super Cup drama, with the women’s final between Spain’s CN Sant Andreu and Dutch side ZV De Zaan taking centre stage on Sunday 12 October, just four days after the men’s clash.
While the men’s final features the competition’s most decorated sides – FTC-Telekom and Pro Recco – the women’s edition will guarantee a new name etched onto the trophy, as both Sant Andreu and De Zaan make their Super Cup debuts.

A first for the Netherlands, and a chance for Spanish glory
The women’s Super Cup will be contested in Barcelona, where Champions League winners Sant Andreu will look to become only the second Spanish club – after CN Sabadell – to lift the title.
Euro Cup champions De Zaan have already made history by becoming the first Dutch team to qualify for the prestigious event, which has been staged annually since 2006 and is now in its 19th edition. Until now, only clubs from Spain, Greece, Italy, Hungary, and Russia had ever earned the right to compete for the trophy.
Favourites – but beware the upset
Sant Andreu will start as favourites, especially with home support, but history offers a warning: in five of the previous 18 editions, the Euro Cup winners have upset the Champions League champions. De Zaan will be aiming to join that list of surprise victors and cap off a landmark season for Dutch women’s water polo.
