European Aquatics has announced a new partnership with Sportway, one of the leading providers of European Aquatics has announced a new partnership with Sportway, one of the leading providers of automated sports streaming, to operate its official digital platform — European Aquatics TV. The updated service will launch on Wednesday, 8 October, coinciding with the Men’s Super Cup final between FTC-Telekom and Pro Recco in Budapest.
The collaboration marks a significant development for European Aquatics’ broadcast ambitions, introducing new subscription options and expanding the platform’s reach across multiple territories.
A new operator for a growing platform
Sportway, a Swedish-based company, currently delivers streaming services in fifteen countries and manages more than 60 OTT platforms for major sporting organisations. The company operates over 2,000 cameras worldwide and is expected to produce nearly 300,000 live matches during the 2025/26 season across various sports, including ice hockey, football, volleyball, basketball, handball, and now, water polo.
Under the new partnership, Sportway will oversee the production and delivery of all European Aquatics’ live water polo events, including the Champions League, Euro Cup, Conference Cup, Challenger Cup, and the Men’s and Women’s European Championships.
Flexible viewing options
Fans will have several subscription packages to choose from:
- Day Pass (€2.99) – access to all live and on-demand content for 24 hours.
- Water Polo Pass (€6.99/month) – unlimited access to all water polo matches, with the option to cancel anytime.
- Annual Pass (€59.99) – year-round coverage at a discounted rate.
These packages replace the previous season-based model and are designed to offer greater flexibility and affordability for viewers following competitions across the entire calendar.
Expanding global access
European Aquatics also confirmed that all live water polo content will be available outside Europe through a distribution agreement with Overnght, covering audiences in the Americas (including the Caribbean), Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
With four club competitions and the European Championships running from October to June, the 2025/26 season promises extensive coverage for fans eager to follow their favourite teams and athletes.
A step forward for digital growth
The new partnership represents a renewed attempt to professionalise the presentation of water polo at the continental level. While European Aquatics has faced criticism in the past for streaming quality and accessibility, the involvement of a major broadcast technology company signals a commitment to improving production standards and user experience.
The FTC–Recco Super Cup final will serve as the platform’s first live event under the new system — and an early test of its capability to deliver the high-quality coverage that the sport’s growing online audience expects.
About Sportway: mixed but promising reputation
Sportway is part of the Sportway Media Group, an expanding company specialising in AI-automated video production for live sport. It uses intelligent camera systems and analytics tools to broadcast matches without large on-site crews, allowing federations to stream more events at lower cost.
The company’s technology has been recognised within the broadcast industry — particularly in Scandinavia and Central Europe — for its innovative use of AI-driven camera tracking and automated multi-sport production. Sportway’s clients include numerous national federations and leagues across football, ice hockey, basketball, and volleyball.
Public user feedback, however, remains limited. Most reviews are neutral or positive about the technology and reliability, but there have been isolated complaints about subscription management and customer service. The overall impression is of a technically capable but still maturing platform, with strong institutional partnerships and an expanding footprint in European sport.
For European Aquatics, this partnership represents a calculated step — entrusting a company with proven streaming infrastructure and experience across multiple sports to elevate the digital presentation of water polo.
