Pallanuoto Trieste have confirmed the signing of Italian international Sofia Giustini ahead of the 2026/27 Serie A1 women’s season.
It is a major statement from the Trieste side, who have secured one of the most dangerous attacking players in Italian water polo.
Giustini, born in Genoa in 2003, joins Trieste from Rapallo, where she spent the 2025/26 season. She was one of Rapallo’s key players throughout the campaign, scoring 63 goals in the regular season and a further 11 in the playoffs.
The Italy international also played in the Champions League with Rapallo, underlining her experience at the highest level of the European game.
Giustini began her career in the youth system of Rapallo before moving to SIS Roma in 2020. With the Roman club, she won the Italian Cup in 2022, before taking the next step in her career with a move to Spain.
Her time at Sabadell was highly successful. With the Catalan powerhouse, Giustini won the Spanish league, the Euro League and two European Super Cups, establishing herself as one of the brightest young Italian players abroad.
She returned to Rapallo for the 2025/26 season, but will now continue her career in Trieste.
For Pallanuoto Trieste, the move represents a major addition to a squad that has been steadily growing in recent seasons. Giustini brings scoring power, international experience and proven quality in decisive matches.
The signing also strengthens Trieste’s ambitions ahead of the new campaign, as the club looks to remain among the leading forces in Italian women’s water polo.
Giustini’s arrival follows weeks of transfer speculation linking Trieste with several high-profile names, and her confirmation gives the club one of the standout signings of the summer market.
