Greek international Vasiliki Plevritou could be set for a new challenge abroad, with Hungarian champions FTC reportedly interested in bringing the Olympiacos star to Budapest ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Waterpolo 360 understands that the possibility of a move is being discussed, in what would be one of the most high-profile transfers of the summer in women’s water polo.
If completed, the move would reunite Vasiliki with her sister Eleftheria Plevritou at FTC, adding another major name to a squad already packed with international talent and European ambitions.
At 27 years old, Vasiliki is widely regarded as one of the most experienced and accomplished players in Greek women’s water polo. A product of the Iraklis academies, she moved to Olympiacos alongside her sisters at a young age and has spent virtually her entire senior career with the Piraeus club.
During that period, she has helped Olympiacos dominate domestically while also becoming one of Europe’s most recognisable teams. Plevritou has won 11 Greek Championships, six Greek Cups and three European titles with the club, establishing herself as part of a golden generation for Olympiacos women’s water polo.
Comfortable in multiple attacking roles, Plevritou is known for her intelligence in possession, movement around the perimeter and experience in high-pressure matches. She has also been a long-standing member of the Greek national team setup, representing Greece across junior and senior international competitions.
FTC’s interest would represent another major statement from the Hungarian side, who continue to strengthen in their pursuit of Women’s Champions League success.
The Budapest club have rapidly emerged as one of Europe’s most ambitious projects in the women’s game, attracting elite international players and building a squad capable of competing with the continent’s traditional powerhouses, including Olympiacos, Sabadell and Orizzonte.
The prospect of reuniting the Plevritou sisters is also likely to generate excitement amongst supporters. The sisters have been central figures in Greek water polo for years and are amongst the most recognisable names in the sport nationally.
Eleftheria has already established herself as an important figure within FTC’s project, and the arrival of Vasiliki would further strengthen the club’s Greek core heading into next season.
For Olympiacos, losing a player so closely associated with the club would mark the end of an era. Plevritou has been part of the team through one of the most successful periods in its history and remains deeply connected to the club’s identity.
At this stage, however, no agreement has been finalised and negotiations are understood to still be ongoing. As with all transfer discussions, a move is only certain once contracts are signed.
Still, the possibility of seeing the Plevritou sisters together in FTC colours is already shaping up to be one of the stories to watch this summer.
