Hungarian star Gergő Zalánki might be going back to Pro Recco. He left the team to join Olympiacos in Greece less than a year ago.
There are rumours that Recco want Zalánki back in Italy. He moved to Greece in 2024 after leaving Recco during a difficult period for the club, with financial problems leading to several top players leaving.
Zalánki had some of the best years of his career with Recco. From 2021 to 2024, he helped the team win titles in Italy and the Champions League. He became one of the best water polo players in the world, and in 2023 he was named World Player of the Year.
When Zalánki joined Olympiacos, it was seen as a major signing. The Greek team wanted to improve and compete with the top teams in Europe. Zalánki brought experience, quality and leadership to the squad.
If Zalánki goes back to Recco, it would be good for both him and the team. He played well under coach Sandro Sukno, and bringing him back would show that Recco are serious about rebuilding after recent problems.
For Olympiacos, losing Zalánki would be a big loss. He has become an important player for them in European competition.
No one has officially said that the move is happening yet. However, people are already talking about it as one of the biggest transfer stories in European water polo.
