Five matches completed Saturday’s action in the men’s División de Honor, following Barceloneta’s derby win away at Barcelona (20–14). The remaining fixtures produced close contests, big wins, and important points at both ends of the table.
Echeyde edge Caballa in dramatic finish
The day opened at the Acidalio Lorenzo pool, where Echeyde and Caballa—level on points before the match—delivered the closest battle of Round 6. With everything on the line, the home side showed resilience to overturn a two-goal deficit.
Echeyde trailed 6–8 in the third quarter but fought back to level the game. In the final minutes, Luis Araya stepped up, converting a crucial penalty for 11–9 and sending the crowd into celebration. Caballa’s Leona pulled one back, but the hosts held firm to claim an important 11–10 victory.
Terrassa cruise against winless Boadilla
Fresh from their midweek Euro Cup win over Duisburg, Terrassa returned home and controlled their match from the start. A 6–1 opening quarter set the tone, and the Catalan side never looked back, eventually defeating Boadilla 19–5.
For the Madrid-based newcomers, still seeking their first top-flight victory, the adaptation to División de Honor remains a steep challenge.
Rubí take crucial points against Catalunya
At Sant Jordi, Catalunya and Rubí entered the match tied on just three points each—a significant early-season crossroads for both clubs.
Rubí delivered a near-perfect first period, storming to a 6–2 lead. Although the remaining quarters were tight, Catalunya never fully recovered from the slow start. Rubí managed the game well and secured a vital 13–11 win.
Sabadell overcome Mediterrani in demanding away test
Sabadell faced a difficult trip to Mediterrani, a team known for performing strongly at home. Colet’s side struggled to fully pull away in the first half (7–5) and may have felt the physical toll of their Champions League win in Marseille.
But Sabadell’s quality prevailed over time, and a strong third-quarter surge proved decisive in a 15–11 victory.
Mataró stay undefeated with strong finish at Sant Andreu
The final match of the day took place at the Pere Serrat pool. Sant Andreu held their own until halftime, trailing only 5–2 after two quarters, but Mataró gradually shifted gears.
Remaining undefeated this season, Mataró controlled the second half to earn a solid 15–10 away victory, further reinforcing their status as one of the form teams of the league.
