Champions League Final Four Confirmed: Sabadell, Olympiacos, St Andreu, and debutants FTC advance

Three familiar names and one exciting newcomer will contest the 2025 Women’s Champions League Final Four. Defending champions Astralpool CN Sabadell, runners-up Olympiacos SFP, and bronze medallists CN Sant Andreu are back in the mix, while Hungarian side FTC-Telekom Waterpolo has reached the prestigious stage for the first time in the club’s history.

Sant Andreu Sink Mataro in Derby Duel

Despite holding a five-goal advantage from the first leg, Sant Andreu took no chances in their all-Catalan showdown with Mataro. Both sides came out swinging, with six exclusions in the opening minutes. Martina Claveria gave the hosts early hope, but Andreu’s defence, led by keeper Martina Terre, was impenetrable for much of the game.

A scoreless second quarter was followed by a wild third, where St Andreu exploded with four unanswered goals to take full control. Elena Ruiz and Ariadna Ruiz both missed penalties, but it didn’t matter—Andreu’s 11-8 win on the day sealed their return to the Final Four.

Olympiacos Survive Scare in Greek Thriller

After losing twice to Vouliagmeni in domestic play, Olympiacos were staring down a third straight defeat when they trailed 3-0 early. But coach Dimitrios Kravaritis’ time-out calmed the nerves, and Olympiacos slowly clawed their way back.

A third-quarter surge—featuring goals from Vasiliki Plevritou, Foteini Tricha, and Stefania Santa—turned the tie around. Abby Andrews’ third goal of the night proved to be the winner, capping a gutsy comeback. French goalkeeper Mia Rycraw was instrumental, conceding just two goals over the final three quarters.

Alimos Beat Champions, but Sabadell Cruise Through

Hungarian star Natasa Rybanska netted a hat-trick as Alimos upset Sabadell in Athens, but the damage had been done in the first leg. Despite a spirited 15-13 win, Alimos couldn’t overcome Sabadell’s 13-goal advantage.

To their credit, the Greek side never gave up and thrilled the home fans with a relentless attack, but Sabadell now eye a third consecutive Champions League crown—something only Orizzonte has achieved (2004–2006).

History for FTC as Plevritou Powers Debut Final Four Spot

A composed, resilient performance from FTC saw them dispatch eight-time champions Orizzonte Catania to secure a historic place in the Final Four. Greek international Eleftheria Plevritou scored twice in the 8-6 win, with fellow standout Greta Gurisatti adding a crucial goal.

Goalkeeper Boglarka Neszmely was the hero, saving five powerplays in the final quarter alone. FTC’s defence held firm while their attack found just enough rhythm to see them over the line with a 19-15 aggregate win.
