Euro Cup Women: BVSC, Catalunya, CNAB and Trieste reach semifinals

Four compelling quarter-final ties in the Women’s Euro Cup delivered drama, comebacks, and dominant displays, as BVSC, EPlus CN Catalunya, Zodiac CNAB, and Pallanuoto Trieste secured their places in the last four.

With semifinal spots on the line, all four second legs produced high-intensity encounters, ranging from narrow one-goal thrillers to commanding aggregate victories.

Catalunya edge Glyfada in thriller

EPlus CN Catalunya booked their semifinal place with a narrow 12–11 victory over ANC Glyfada iRepair, progressing 20–19 on aggregate after a fiercely contested two-legged tie.

With the first leg ending level, the return match was always set to be tight—and it delivered. Catalunya made the brighter start, with Emmerson Houghton leading the charge early, but Glyfada responded strongly to take control before half-time.

The turning point came across the end of the second and third quarters, where Catalunya produced a decisive four-goal run to swing momentum and take a 9–7 lead. Glyfada fought back once again, drawing level in the fourth, but Houghton—who finished with six goals—proved decisive.

Late goals from Houghton and Toula Falvey gave the Spanish side breathing room, and despite a last-second strike from Lily Turner, Catalunya held on to seal progression in dramatic fashion.

BVSC dominate Padova

BVSC Manna ABC delivered one of the most convincing performances of the round, defeating Antenore Plebiscito Padova 13–8 to complete a comprehensive 24–17 aggregate victory.

Already holding a first-leg advantage, the Hungarian side wasted no time asserting control. A powerful opening half saw them race into an 8–3 lead, effectively ending the contest before the break.

Zoe Lendvay starred with five goals, while Pien Gorter added three in a dominant attacking display. BVSC’s defensive solidity ensured there was no route back for Padova, as they comfortably saw out the second half to advance.

CNAB complete stunning comeback

Zodiac CNAB continued their remarkable debut European campaign with a dramatic 13–12 win over Polar Bears, sealing a 23–21 aggregate success in one of the most entertaining ties of the round.

After building an early lead, the Spanish side found themselves under pressure as the Dutch hosts produced a five-goal surge to take control of both the match and the tie.

Heading into the final quarter, Polar Bears looked in command at 11–8, but CNAB responded with incredible composure. Four unanswered goals turned the game on its head, before a late equaliser from the hosts set up a tense finish.

With the match hanging in the balance, Clara Diaz converted the decisive attack following a time-out, sending CNAB through in sensational fashion.

Trieste fight back to maintain consistency

Pallanuoto Trieste reached the Euro Cup semifinals for the third consecutive season after overcoming Ethnikos OFPF 10–8, progressing 19–16 on aggregate.

The Italian side were rocked early by a 0–3 start from the visitors but responded emphatically, producing a five-goal run to regain control of the tie.

Ethnikos refused to fade and twice drew level late in the match, setting up a tense final phase. However, Trieste’s experience proved decisive, with captain Lucrezia Cergol converting a crucial extra-player opportunity before Morgan McDowall sealed the win in the closing seconds.

Semifinal line-up confirmed

The semifinal matchups promise two high-quality clashes, with clubs from Spain, Hungary, and Italy still in contention:

  • EPlus CN Catalunya (ESP) vs BVSC Manna ABC (HUN)
  • Zodiac CNAB (ESP) vs Pallanuoto Trieste (ITA)

First legs will be played on April 11, with the return fixtures scheduled for May 16.
